We’d heard that Karijini was filled with gorges, waterholes and all things spectacular. As we drove through the Pilbara, all I could see was small rolling fields filled with grassy spinifix hummocks. Where were they hiding these treasures? The day we arrived, we went to explore Dales Gorge which was situated a few meters away

Bullara Station
The shower - a bucket with a strainer, the toilet block - made out of corrugated iron, the laundry - situated in an old sheering shed, and around the property you will find old rusty holdens, metal sculptures from old farming tools, all set on red dirt with white gums and meandering sheep. Felix found
Osprey, Exmouth (Cape Range National Park)
We normally decide upon our next destination, the night before we pack up and head out. We tried being a little more organised with Cape Range National park – but even with a week notice it was impossible to secure a camping spot. You can imagine how excited we where, when a spot came up
Coral Bay
We passed the 26th parallel and entered the North West. There were goats aplenty and we even spotted two wedge tail eagles feasting on a roadside carcass. Despite the bustling caravan park and busy beaches, Coral Bay will always be a favourite of mine. The vibe from everyone that visits and works here is relaxed
Big Lagoon, Francois Peron National Park
After a busy return to adventuring, we kicked back at Big Lagoon in Francois Peron National Park. The kids rode their bikes along the iconic outback red dirt. Their little orange stained feet ran along the beach, spotting rays and jumping fish in the water. Felix fished from 8am till 6pm with a break for
Stromatolites and Dark Emu
I’ve been reading Bruce Pascoe’s book ‘Dark Emu’ which is very eye opening and I could not recommend it enough. Among many things, Pascoe sheds light on the advanced ingenuity and wisdom of the Aboriginal people. They were in tune with the world and understood (and took advantage of) many facets, that only now modern
Kalbarri
Last time Andrew and I were in Kalbarri, was 15 years ago! The even crazier thing, is we stayed at the same campground and were put on a site right next to our original one. It was such a spin out. If someone was to say to me back then, that we’d be back with
Pink Lake, Port Gregory
Pink Lake is spectacular. You should go! We were inspired by a few Instagram models to try and go for a swim. After checking with a local whether they would recommend it, they laughed saying they wouldn’t. We were still to determined to check it out. Fast forward an hour, we find Felix half way
Perth
There is a lot to see and do in Perth. Just to skim the surface, you can visit the new Elizabeth Quay in the city, explore modern and natural playgrounds on the river near East Perth and in Kings Park, swim at the beaches which run along the coast, sip wine and beer at the
Lake Cave, Margaret River
To reach the entrance of Lake Cave, we had to descend into a sink hole, thick with greenery. We then made our way down a dark tunnel between two thick rocks. Deep inside, was a white wonderland of stalagmites and stalactities. They were illuminated by lights which led us down deeper along a pathway, over
