We were blown away when we went to see the Natural Bridge – literally! We watched as the waves pushed powerful surges of water through the arch.
In the 80’s, a guy climbed down for a better photo, when a massive wave came through and dragged him out to sea! He was eventually found by a search and rescue team. I’m guessing, even if he managed to hold onto his camera, the salt water would have destroyed the film and lost him a pretty epic shot. He’s also extremely lucky not to have encountered a shark.
A couple of meters across from the Bridge, you can stand on a platform overlooking The Gap. The Gap is just that – a gap between two cliffs. The water churns beneath you like a washing machine as the waves smash between the rocks. The spacing in the platform is far enough apart, that visually it gives you the illusion that you are hovering over the chaos below.
After all the excitement, we took in the serenity of the nearby beaches with their postcard perfect white sands and clear, blue waters.
Felix put his fishing skills to the test and ventured out onto the rickety jetty that extended off the grounds of Panorama Caravan Park. He brought back the oddest looking fish I have ever seen – a flounder – with its bulging eyes on one side of his body and polka dot skin.
After devouring the catch, we explored the streets of Albany which offered a mix of old architecture and modern graffiti.
